It’s been two years now since I took that filmmaking mini-workshop with the RFC. Thanks to Lina I subscribed with the filmmaking track at the Barra El Saff youth empowerment program of Fastlink. After an overall inroduction to filmmaking I later took more specialized classes in editing. Coming with “A Warmer Shade of Grey” was larger than I’ve ever expected, knowing that the Yarmouk team of 10 members broke down gradually to only 2 girls Eman and myself. We basically had to do all the job in less than a month between location scouting shooting and editing. The outcome was definitely better than expected. All appreciation to the Royal Filmmaking Commission to give us the chance to be exposed to this kind of art. Merva, Hoshki and special thanks to Yousef who has done a great job teaching me on both Avid and iMovie. All respect to all of you.
This Oudist has been my obsession for the past couple of months.. I was blown away with his oud playing first time I listened to him.. When he plays, it’s like he got his way of communicating through music.. he’s telling it all through his music…
Being to some of his concerts from Sharq and Shu Hal Ayam to some Oud Nights he participated in, I grew as a big fan of his talent…
Whether he was playing famous old tunes we all know or some pieces of his own composition Tareq achieves to lift us up to a better place where all you breath taste and feel is pure art..
I was so lucky I got the chance to meet and talk to this great musician… and I’m so proud of having the possession of his exquisite buzuq!
This is one of the most generous people I’ve even known… generous through his music.. generous with his talent.. and his belongings…
I appreciate everything he does for his music.. and every thing he did for me… He’s such an inspiration to me..
It’s not very often in these the days of vacuous celebrity-ism that you come across a musician that is just interested in making real music for the sake of music itself. Salam Hmoud is such a musician. Endeavoring to create the kind of sounds that the current music scene is missing by blending his unique melodies and intelligent lyrics in both Arabic and English with a rock attitude.Influenced by different musicians and music styles, Salam’s music has energy, conscience, and style, setting it above the rest of the pack. Salam is currently recording new material for his first album. I was lucky enough to listen to a demo of one of the unreleased songs (available to listen to on his Facebook and MySpace pages). Great lyrics and distinctive melodies and harmonies indeed! This coming album inshallah is just the beginning for this enthusiastic upwardly mobile musician. I have no doubt one day we will see him achieving his place between all stars. If you would like to listen to Salam’s music, you can hear it at:
All my bags are packed.. I’m ready to go! hehe “I can’t take Leaving On A Jetplane song out of my head”!
So today is the day! I’m finally leaving to Irbid after a long vacation, Ah I missed that little city! I missed my room! I missed the dorm and the supervisors! I missed the building! I missed it all!
I used to feel this way about Amman! This is wierd!
I’m so excited for this semester! My best friends is going to be my roommate.. My ex-roommate’s room is going to be right next to our room.. and Ramadan is coming really soon! Can’t wait!
And guess what?! I’m no longer a Sanfoora! This is so exciting!
P.S: I’m leaving with my parents in the car, not on Hijazi bus
